About the Town Board

The Town Board consists of a supervisor and four councilmen. The councilmen have a term of office of four years while the term of office for the supervisor is two years.   Election of board members is staggered so that the whole town board will not come up for election in the same year.

Town Board Meetings

The Town Board has regular monthly meetings in the Municipal Building on Marvin Lane.  The specific times and dates for the meetings are determined at the annual orgizational meeting each year, and this year they are scheduled for 6 pm on the first Monday of each month.  Due to Labor Day the September meeting will be held on August 30.

Under the terms of the New York Open Meetings Law, members of the public are permitted to attend and observe Town Board meetings but they do not have the right to participate.  The Almond Town Board, however, typically does permit input from those community members who attend their meetings.

About the Deputy Supervisor

The deputy supervisor is an appointed position, typically appointed by the supervisor. Any qualified person including a town officer, official, or employee, may be appointed deputy supervisor. During the absence of the supervisor the deputy supervisor is vested with all the powers and may perform all the duties of the supervisor except that he or she has no vote on matters coming before the town board unless he or she is also a councilman.
